WHAT'S YOUR

HOME ROW EMOTION?

6 Primary Emotions

My Name is Bret Martin and I would like to welcome you to Home Row Emotions.
In 1976, my freshman year of high school I was taught how to line my hands up on the typewriter and the teacher called our hand placement the home row positioning on the typewriter.
He went on to explain that every key we struck on the typewriter would function better if we positioned our hands in the said home row position each time we used the typewriter.

I firmly believe that you and I function from an emotion and that emotion is our "Home Row Emotion" and in most cases it is not an emotion that suits, nor serves you and I well.

There are

6 Primary Emotions

Fear, Anger, Disgust, Sadness, Surprise,
...and Happiness.

Emotions come before feelings.

Emotions come before personality.

Each human being has a Home Row Emotion.

Our Home Row Emotion is our foundation.

We are rooted in our Home Row Emotion.

We are driven by this Home Row Emotion,

our mother, our father, our family members and friends are each driven by one primary emotion.

We know what their Home Row Emotion is.

We have access to 6 Primary emotions,

but we use one primarily as our foundation.

Like Pavlov's Dogs, we are 'classically conditioned' and honor this

Home Row Emotion daily.

This Home Row Emotion is safe for us, as we have embraced since childhood and can depend on it.

It is a learned behavior.

Even though a Home Row Emotion like fear, anger, sadness, surprise and disgust don't serve us well, we serve one of them as a Home Row Emotion, because we've gotten used to it, we know how to live within it and endure it.

This is the 'paradox' nobody in their right mind would want to be labeled as sad all the time, or angry all the time, or controlled by fear all the time, or full of disgust all the time, but we know those type of people all around us and they are these emotions, because one of these is their Home Row Emotion.

Happiness is what they are seeking

Trillions of dollars are spent annually on people seeking the emotion, Happiness.

What do we do to release these endorphins?

What do we do to release this dopamine

Here examples of we do to seek Happiness.

A. We Gamble.

B. We Use Porn.

C. We Over-eat.

D. We Use Antidepressants.

E. We Shop.

F. We use Drugs.

G. We use Alcohol.

H. We Smoke.

Seeing a pattern?

Most human being are

seeking happiness,

but not actually happy!

This Home Row Emotion rules you, everything you think, say, and, do, is the byproduct of where your Home Row Emotion lies.

Once again,

Our emotions come before our feelings.

In fact, our Home Row Emotion molds our

personality.

Most people's Home Row Emotion is Fear, Anger, Disgust, Surprise, or Sadness.

All that is left is Happiness.

And that is what we're after.

Happiness moment to moment.

For your sake,

the family's sake and your friend's sake and societies.

Once you're aware of what your Home Row Emotion is, you will be able to recognize why you do the things you do and say the things you say.

Welcome to who you are!
